FAQ

What should I wear for my Senior Portrait?

Generally, seniors wear something dressy for their indoor studio poses and something more casual for their outdoor studio poses.

When choosing your portrait session attire, keep in mind that your senior portrait may be displayed in your parents’ home for years to come. Seek their opinion on what looks good on you.

Avoid wearing sleeveless blouses or shirts, and clothing that does not fit well.

What colors photograph best?

For indoor studio portraits, medium to dark colors photograph best. Avoid pastels and busy prints such as plaids and stripes. Earth tones, like medium to dark greens, browns, blues, magentas, and burgundies photograph quite well.

For outdoor portraits, earth tones such as blues, greens, browns, and so on, photograph exceptionally well.

What type of pose will my school allow in the yearbook?

Most schools, with some exceptions, allow either indoor or outdoor environmental portrait in the yearbook. You will be notified if your school is an exception. Please note, since the yearbook image is rather small, we strongly suggest you select a head and shoulder pose.

Will my images, including the yearbook, be retouched?

Yes. All facial blemishes and glass glare are removed at no additional charge. There is an additional charge for removing braces, correcting discolored or chipped teeth, or fixing clothing or hair.

Will the photographer take a variety of poses?

Yes. We generally take both smiling and serious with a variety of head and shoulder, 3/4 and full view poses. If you have a special request let the photographer know.

Can I be photographed in different outfits?

For the Combination Portrait Session, yes you can change into a second outfit for the outdoor poses. An additional outfit can be added to any session for an extra $20.

I wear glasses all the time – should I wear them when I have my picture taken?

Yes. However, if you are near sighted and have a heavy prescription, we recommend borrowing an empty frame from your optician. This will eliminate the heavy glare on the glass cause by the studio lights.

Be aware that transition lenses will photograph darker than they appear.

Can I be photographed with my own props?

Yes. As part of your session, we can do some poses with item(s) that are special to you whether they be musical instruments, sports equipment or uniform, hobby items, or car.

Well behaved pets are welcomed and can be photographed with you in either indoor or outdoor studio.

Do I need heavier makeup?

Not at all! Neither the lights nor camera will diminish your features. We recommend avoiding something new or dramatic for your portrait session.

What about hair?

Like makeup, we recommend avoiding something new or dramatic for your portrait session. To help with frizz and oil, we recommend washing your hair the day before your session, then right before your photo is taken, put a bit of hairspray on your hand and brush it against your hair. This will help the hair stay in place.

Avoid styles that cover or may cast a shadow over your face.

We recommend all facial hair, including your neck, be shaved or trimmed.

When will I get to see my proofs?

On the day of your photo session you will schedule a date and time to view your proofs. We suggest the appointment be made at the convenience of one of your parents.

During the appointment, our consultant will explain what can be retouched, cropped, and how the various portrait packages offered by the studio can be assembled to meet your needs.

Should you wish to take your proofs home prior to making a decision you may do so with a $60 deposit. This is credited to your order or is refundable at the time your proofs are returned (within 90 days.)

What happens if I don’t like my proofs?

Our request for re-takes is less than 1%. Properly prepare yourself for your session by following our guidelines and other recommendations. We will use all of our skills and experience to capture portraits that you’ll love.

Can I get a digital file of my proofs?

Yes. Every Print Package comes with a digital file of each image purchased. Additional digital images are available for purchase.

Image is for online use only, and is subject to copyright.

Can I get the logo removed?

Like most artist, we sign each of our pieces with our studio name at the bottom corner. An additional fee can be paid to remove the logo.
